'Teen Wolf' season five update: Braeden to play bigger role in new season; new character coming

The first day of shooting for the fifth season of MTV's 'Teen Wolf' started last week, and while details for the upcoming remain scarce, a few choice nuggets have been made available through various sources.
A new season brings with it many new faces, and a report at MTV has revealed the addition of a new character that will be involved heavily in the season. Actor Cody Christian (Pretty Little Liars) has been cast as the werewolf Theo. His character is a lone wolf in search of a pack and, as it goes with most creatures of the night, is a charming and athletic specimen. And while this marks his first appearance in the series, it appears that he has connections to the town from his past.
The new season will also upgrade the role of the existing character Braeden, played by actress Meagan Tandy. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Jeff Davis professed that he liked Tandy's performance so much that they simply had to increase her role in the series. "I'd love her to come back, and that's kind of why we tied her into the whole desert wolf mystery. I love Meagan Tandy so much; she's such an awesome girl. I think she's really stepped up this season," he said.
Davis' fellow writer Eric Wallace also revealed some critical information for the new season. In a podcast with Gecken, Wallace revealed that the show's writers intend to make the new season the scariest one of the series.
'Teen Wolf' is expected to air sometime in June this year. The first episode has been tentatively titled as "Creatures of the Night". As to whether it refers to the werewolves or a different type of night creature remains to be seen. It will be directed by Russell Mulcahy and written by series creator Jeff Davis.
