"Wayward Pines" season 2 is reported to bring back characters who viewers have seen in previous episodes.

Last week's episode featured the return of Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo), who was last seen at the end of season 1. However, her appearance was a brief one and it was revealed that she was initially sent away from the center of Wayward Pines by her adoptive son, Jason Higgins (Tom Stevens). In her return, she had a mission to infect people with the smallpox virus by injecting herself with it. However, she was eventually killed by Jason.

Also set to return in this week's episode is Xander Beck (Josh Helman), according to reports. It can be recalled that Xander got stuck outside the fence that separates humans from aberrations or "Abbies." More importantly, Adam Hassler, the CIA head from season 1 who is played by Tim Griffin, is also said to make a comeback.

The last time fans saw Hassler was when Theresa Burke (Shannyn Sossamon) discovered a tape that confirms the truth about Wayward Pines. Hassler was seen exploring the outside world which was dominated by the Abbies. The latest teaser video showed Hassler's return, although he now looks very different.

There's also some mystery surrounding Hassler's exploration as fans question how it was possible for him to survive alone in a world full of Abbies. "Everything is different. I've been on a mission by the creator and founder of Wayward Pines, but you don't know what's happened to me yet," Griffin told iDigitalTimes.

Griffin also shared details about his character who's set to return to the series. He described Hassler to be a "completely changed" man, comparing him to Leonardo DiCaprio's character in "The Revenant."

Hassler is also expected to hold the answers as to what the world outside really is as he was able to live in that world for more than a decade without getting in the way of the Abbies. This season, Griffin's character will bring more light to the Abbies since he has become an expert of the odd species.

"Everything that you think you know about the abbies and our relationship to nature gets turned upside down," Griffin said. Xander and Griffin's return only means that fans will get to learn more about the Abbies this week.

"Wayward Pines" season 2 airs every Wednesday, 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
