'Pokemon Go' Eevee evolution update: why trick may not work for some players

One of the best known tricks inside "Pokemon Go" is related to Eevees and how to specifically control how they will evolve inside the game.
The trick involves naming Eevees a particular way.
Players who want to receive a Flareon can name their Eevee as Pyro if they want to get that specific Pokemon. Those who want a Jolteon can make that happen by naming their Eevee Sparky, and finally, players who would like to have a Vaporeon should name their Eevee Rainer.
Thanks to the Eevee naming trick, plenty of "Pokemon Go" players were finally able to remove randomness from the equation and many of them got the specific Eevee evolution they wanted.
Unfortunately, some players later discovered that the trick does not work for everyone.
Over on the r/PokemonGo Subreddit, players shared their experiences related to the aforementioned trick not working for them.
Some players even speculated as to why the trick did not work for them as intended. Some players theorized that the trick may stop working once all three Eevee evolutions have already been achieved, while others have put forth the possibility that the hack may not work for the same Pokemon twice in a row.
Interestingly, some players have also shared that the trick does not work for them all the time regardless of the circumstances.
It's unclear exactly why some players seemingly have better luck making the Eevee trick work than others, and until further clarification is provided, the best thing they can do right now may be to just save their games beforehand, utilize the hack as intended and hope for the best.
With any luck, future updates to "Pokemon Go" will make sure that the Eevee evolution trick works all the time and randomness really won't be a problem any more for any player looking to get either a Flareon, Jolteon or a Vaporeon.
